Steamboat Flyfisher's Tip of the Week

Things are getting better here every day. The Yampa through town and chuck Lewis are still closed. But look for them to reopen any day now. The road to Sarvis is now open and the fishing has been very good! You will need at least a decent clearance SUV to make it in, as the road is a bit bumpy. 5-Day Outlook as of 9/22/21

Mostly sunny, low of 35 high of 75.

Techniques & Tips as of 9/22/21

With overnight lows driving down the stream temps, we have seen our best fishing from 9AM-4PM. We have seen many fish rising to blue wing olives and some mahogany duns on any overcast or stormy days. If fish aren't rising, try nymphing the deep pools and runs as fish are moving into there slower fall, and winter lies. The river is low and clear so make sure you are using long 5-6x leaders.
