Royal Gorge Anglers's Tip of the Week

Callibaetis and Chironomids are still in the mix but fishing has been technical. Fish have been very picky (our guides have cracked the code, but its not been easy). Don't be afraid to throw a Hopper or Dry/ Dropper or strip a jig style streamer.

5-Day Outlook as of 10/9/24

Fishing is really ramping up...but still picky fish season!

Techniques & Tips as of 10/9/24

A 5 of 6wt static nymphing setup featuring a combination of a micro leech/ balanced leech, callibaetis nymph or chironomid larva. The 2nd rod should feature a full sink or sink tip line with a streamer or double streamer rig for prospecting. We like anything from small trout imitations to sculpin for lead flies, trailing smaller woolly buggers or thin mints. You'll want to ideally look for cruising fish with the static indicator rig and cover more water with the streamer rod.
