RIGS Fly Shops & Guide Service's Tip of the Week
Flows are back to normal and clarity is looking great. With this settling of flows, fish feed aggressively—particularly on scuds, which become dislodged in the shifting currents. Orange and olive scud patterns have been especially productive. For best results, trail a small mayfly nymph behind your lead fly to match the additional insect activity stirred up by the changing flows. As the water stabilizes, expect excellent fishing opportunities with improved clarity and fish holding in predictable lies. Be ready for a strong week ahead on this stretch of the Gunnison.
