Royal Gorge Anglers's Tip of the Week
Antero has come around! Even with word of fish kill this winter, the lake is still fishing well and we're finding some particularly nice Brown Trout. Chironomids will be your focus, but we're seeing a few Callibaetis now, so certainly be prepared.

5-Day Outlook as of 7/24/24
Fishing is only now ramping up, should be solid!
Techniques & Tips as of 7/24/24
A 5 of 6wt static nymphing setup featuring a combination of a micro leech/ balanced leech, callibaetis nymph or chironomid larva. The 2nd rod should feature a full sink or sink tip line with a streamer or double streamer rig for prospecting. We like anything from small trout imitations to sculpin for lead flies, trailing smaller woolly buggers or thin mints. You'll want to ideally look for cruising fish with the static indicator rig and cover more water with the streamer rod.
