Description: About North Yuba River

The North Yuba is a wonderful, widely accessible free stone river that flows from the 6,700' Yuba Pass to Bullard's Bar Lake, a distance of about 60 miles. The stream is open year-around but the regulations change to catch and release during the winter months from mid-November to the last Saturday in April. There are two small gold rush era towns, Downieville and Sierra City, along the river that offer lodging, meals and some fly gear and local fishing advice. See www.sierrachamberofcommerce.com for info. Winter weather conditions are currently adverse. Reporter can be reached via www.sierrastreamsidecabins.com and 530.289.3379.
