We like fishing clousers and pike bunnies up the creek arms and shallows!

Techniques & Tips as of 12/19/24

#2 clousers and bigger deceiver patterns on a intermediate line should do the trick. Look for narrow cuts in the shore line where pike can corner minnows. Water is super low, lots of cruisng fish, try and wade in to reach farther out. Stop by and grab some pike flies, maybe grab some predator leaders to make sure those pike don't wear all that jewelry!

Description: About Upper Lake Mary

Upper Lake Mary near Flagstaff is one of the few Northern Pike lakes in Arizona. It is a long, relatively shallow weedy lake that allows boats with no motor restrictions. It fishes very well for Pike early and late in the season. If the lake does ice up, some years it does not, peak fishing is right after the ice melts. These predators cruise shorelines looking to terrorize smaller fish. We fish big streamer patterns on 6-8wt rods. There are also some walleye present on this lake which will also eat flies. Steel tippet is a must on this lake.
