The Lodge at Glendorn's Tip of the Week
Smaller is better. In these low, clear waters, everything needs to be smaller. Forget standard sizes. Smaller flies and lighters tippets is key.

Techniques & Tips as of 10/20/24
Indicator Fishing: Rigging- Using a 9ft 3X leader, add roughly 2.5 feet of 4x tippet using a triple surgeons knot. When tying the knot leave a long tag end from your tippet section to tie your upper nymph to. Fish a heavier weighted nymph as your bottom fly and a slightly smaller and lighter nymph or egg as your upper fly. Adjust your Indicator to 1 or 1.5 times the depth of the water that you are fishing depending on the speed of the water. Swinging Flies: The most important aspect of swinging flies on this river system is locating pools and deep runs that are appropriate for swinging. Look for long deep riffles and deeper pools with few obstructions. Once you have located an acceptable pool, choose your sink tip based on the conditions. Starting off with a lighter tip section might be the best way to get a feel for the water that you are fishing.
