Finally, the region's transition to fall began with last week's 4.5 inches of rain in the Pine Creek Valley. Cooler nights and less intense heat during the day have Pine Creek fishing again, though still a little sluggish. Please do not target trout that are stacking up at the mouths of cold water tributaries. Fish in mornings or evenings when trout are more active. Water temps can rise toward the 70-degree mark on warmer afternoons. Successful anglers are fishing subsurface patterns deep. Streamers are also working well along water seams and structure.
