Description: About Potomac River

The Potomac is a large river running from West Virginia all the way to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. In this section anglers will find a variety of opportunity to fish for Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Musky, Walleye, Catfish, Carp and Panfish. The Potomac is dramatically affected by rainfall, rising very fast and also falling fast. Fishing from a boat or wading can both be effective for most species. There are lots of large boulders, large pools, shallow runs and sunken trees to provide food and protection for fish.
