The Reel Baja's Tip of the Week
With the weather getting hot some of the best fishing will be early in the morning and late afternoon. Concrete on those times especially if fishing from the beach. The fish can certainly be active other times of day but those “magic hours” can be some of the best.

The Reel Baja5-Day Outlook as of 4/9/26
We expect good weather and good fishing this upcoming week. We will see a little wind in the afternoons from the Southeast it that is typical for this time of year. The fishing should remain steady as the water temperatures are looking good.
Techniques & Tips as of 4/9/26
Inshore - This time of year we see a lot of action early in the mornings as well as the low light hours in the evenings. People tend to over look these time periods. If you want some great action get up and on the water early or fish a little later in the day as those "magic" hours can be great. Offshore - have a few different rods ready from 8wt. to 12/14wt as you never know what you might encounter as far as species and size of fish. It never fails you will be running to a destination and you run into feeding fish on your way. You need to be ready for anything before you leave the dock.

BAJA FISHING REPORT – EASTER WEEKEND 2026 | ROOSTERFISH, POMPANO, TUNA & SPRING CONDITIONS Easter weekend has come and gone, and things have finally quieted down out here. The beaches have cleared out from all the campers and spring breakers, which is always a welcome sight. Feels like Baja again—wide open stretches of sand and not much competition for water. The weather’s been about as good as you can ask for. Daytime temps in the mid to upper 80s, cooling off into the mid-60s at night. Mornings have been calm and fishable, and overall it’s just been really pleasant to be on the water. On the beach, we’re still seeing roosterfish around. Plenty of fish cruising the inside, with a few nicer ones mixed in. Not every stretch of beach is loaded, but if you cover some ground and stay patient, you’ll get your shots—especially early or late in the day. The pompano bite has actually been one of the more consistent things going right now. Fishing live sardines down deep has been producing well, with some solid fish coming up. Definitely worth spending some time on if you’re looking for steady action. Offshore, things have backed off just a bit compared to a week or so ago. The marlin bite that was really good has tapered some, but there are still a few fish around if you put in the effort. There are still some dorado hanging around too—not a ton, but enough to keep it interesting. The tuna are still out there with porpoise. It’s been a little hit or miss—guys aren’t finding them every day—but when they do, they’re getting into decent numbers. So it’s a bit of a hunt, but worth it when it comes together. All in all, it’s a pretty nice window right now. Good weather, less pressure, and a mix of fish around. Hard to complain.Local Species Available Year Round
